WordSmith Tools Help

The point of it

To "mirror" a sort. Studying contexts in a large concordance, you may need to quickly re-sort on the right instead of the left or vice-versa. This function swaps the sort around. This function was suggested by Miel Slager.

Example

Here is a concordance sorted Left1 then Left2. I'm interested in the section with more and most beautiful contexts.

beautiful sorted L1 L2

Press Alt/F6. (menu option Edit | Other sorts | Swap Left & Right)

beautiful sorted R1 R2

The sort is now Right 1, Right 2.

What gets swapped

Your existing concordance sort could involve up to 3 sorts, these might be ascending or descending. Simply put, any sort involving left 5 to left 1 will be swapped to a right sort and vice versa. Sorts on the centre word, or file-position etc. are unaffected.
