Time-lines can be saved in the same way as other lists. If any rows have been merged/joined and you decide to re-compute, you get a choice as to how:

new computation: clears any previous data to start afresh

only change of basis: keeps the information as to which items are joined to each other, ready to re-compute the troughs and peaks.
